Today, I went to the Bring It On! Youth Festival expecting loud live music, freebies, and lots of bumping into people in perfect, sunny weather. It was a nice atmosphere, just being there and sitting around watching local bands and school bands perform. Beatboxing, cute friendly MCs, rockers rocking out, screeeeeeeamo, people cheering aimlessly and crazily.

I got a henna tattoo! Will take a photo of it later. Speaking of which, Angelica and I were talking about chucking a 'Bollywood' party. There's something about the Indian culture, its so vibrant and unique! And I'd like to try Indian food..like the real cuisine. The tattooist gave me her business card(who by the way, was a lovely happy old lady) and you can like hire her for Bollywood parties and Hen's parties etc. I'm picturing...silky, colourful fabrics, with a hint of gold, reddddd, candles..how divine. What do you guys think?

I watched Absolution, a heavy metal band. Woah man...I don't ever listen to heavy metal and all that. I can't even stand it, but somehow, I found that they were actually pretty good. Elena was laughing at my shocked face the whole time, its just amazing how the lead singer can scream so much like I was afraid he'd pass out or something. Brother Bear (David Bui) and his band, 36 Bricks were awesome! Too bad they only got to perform one song :( But it was my first time seeing them perform, and I really really like them :) . They look like they have so much fun on stage, and that's what I love about seeing bands. Live music is incredible.

So Anny, Jimmy and I, after many rounds of walking around aimlessly, we decided to leave the festival and go to Stocklands. We bumped into Anna Vo and Julie(whom I just met, but she's a darling) and we set off on an adventure. First and foremost, we had to walk. Second, we didn't really know the way. Third, we went around in a complete circle. We walked to Hamilton Rd, indecisively thinking whether we should head to my place, or Anna's place, or to Fairfield. Then we went back again, on the road to Polding St because Jimmy needed to go home by the t-way and all that jazz. We saw Polding St. But neither of us trusted our instincts so we followed a cybersoniccrazymadperson (namely Jimmy), mainly just making sure he was in our sights. With the occasional pitstops to stare at a cat. Or a Mazda. We trodded through dirt, bark, sticks and stones, BINDIES, and long fresh grass anticipating a snake to come out and attack us. We endured honking, and even considered a group effort into hitchhiking.

Anna was getting dehydrated, I couldn't feel my left foot, Anny was ready to 'sock' anyone, Julie was catching up with Jimmy, we were pretty damn sure we'd never get home. The sun was setting beautifully, though. Smithfield has such great views. We discovered strange street names too.

We sat down on a bench by a park.

"I think if we'd walk that way we'd be at Marconi"

"Don't fuck with me."

Awkward silence.

But we soldier'd on.

Went past William Stimson P.S, and got attacked by a mob of flying bugs. We would've given anything to just get a lift from anyone, and ventured on a game of "what ifs" and "why didn't".

It was around 5:30. We saw Fairfield Hospital. And thought, let's just all go into the hospital and be fed with Crunchy Nut cereal and chocolate yoghurt. Or for some of us, the mental institute would have sufficed. But alas, we reached Stocklands. Halle-freaking-lujah.

Two hours of walking, and we were slapped in the face by terrible customer service, but it was okay. Anna and I had our well deserved watergasm, it was mesmerising...

And so we sat, celebrating our victory on a Sunday evening with a cheers to Channel V music videos.

On a long ride away from home going at 110km/hr, it's dark, my feet are cold. I tell Jennifer to put her legs on mine so we can somewhat share the warmth. 'Hey, Soul Sister' plays on the radio and we sing along, Janet is sleeping. Sister and brother having small talk in the front, it has been a long day. You know those moments when you look at someone and you just want to hug them?

An extract from Romulus, My Father. I love this part:

My father was not quick to anger, but when his temper was aroused it could be fierce. Once it flared against me. We share a room with a man whom I remember only as Schwaba. One day I took a small bottle of his aftershave outside and sprinkled it on the ground to see if it would make anything grow. When Schwaba missed it he accused me without hesitation and without asking me whether I was guilty. My father demanded to know if I had taken the bottle. I said that I had not, no doubt unconvincingly, because he smacked me. I stuck to my denial and, because he believed me to be lying, my father smacked me even harder. Still I refused to confess, and his anger grew till he could barely speak.

Fortunately, Hora arrived. 'That's enough,' he shouted to my father, but my father would not listen. Hora then intervened physically, taking me away from my father and onto his knee. I was crying hysterically and Hora waited for some time for me to be able to speak between heaving sobs.

Curious to know whether I had taken the aftershave, he asked, 'Raimond, how big was the bottle?'

'Only so small.'

The gap between my fingers measured about five centimetres. I could not believe that the theft of such a small bottle could justify such a huge punishment.

before I forget

I don't know about you, but I practically remember everything about the Teletubbies. If only every time we laughed there'd be a twinkly sound coming from our tummies, and every morning wake up to the giggles of a child. If only our grass was shaped like hills with talking flowers and cute little rabbits roaming around. You're probably thinking, 'what the hell have you been smoking Kim?' Well, it's what being around kids 24/7 does to you.

Back to my posts about nothing.

It's a lovely Sunday morning, and rain is not falling. Happy Easter everybody, hope you have a wonderful weekend what ever it is you're doing! As for me, the past few days I:

• went to Kamay beach, to fish for shellfish. Sure, trodding in muddy water with the high risk of being bitten by crabs and cut by broken shells seemed like a good idea at the time. I prefer just fishing actually, the aftermath of shellfish-ing is way too unhygienic for me. But it was quite fun, I got to catch up with Melissa and the extended family(kind of.)
• spontaneously met up with Jimmy and Michael and went to check out his spare house/uncle's house. These days I just wish I had my p's and a car... but then again. Driving around and sitting aimlessly and having nothing to do is kind of how I imagine post-high school will be like. We all can't wait to get out of here, finish the HSC, and get on with our freedom. I guess there will be more things to do :) I just can't wait to travel around the world. On another thought, remember when we were younger and the older gen would say to their friends "Hey, lets go for lunch one day." or "Let's go for coffee" or something like that... and now, we say it ourselves too. How did we grow up so fast? Catching up has moved from playing in the local park to expensive dinners and crazy teenage parties. Before we know it, we'll be wishing we were young again. Well, I know I will.
• since my dad took my digital camera for his trip, I've been using my disposable camera. There's something intriguing about how the photos will turn out, especially when you don't get to check how you looked, have the option of deleting and fixing the photos up. I quite like that :) I'll definitely try to develop them over the week or at the end of the holidays and show you all!
• eating out so much. The Easter season isn't making things any better either! I need some fitness regime...on top of my "study schedule." I should also really stop making plans/accepting plans...my week is so hectic...I'm scared I'll lose focus ahah. But I've been trying to alternate times: Morning-arvo out, study at night. Night out, study in the morning. Whole day out- read books for english after. Or a more wiser way to resolve all this: CANCEL ALL PLANS. But what can I say? I deserve a break..
• having very good sleep :) My eyebags are going away, so that's a major plus!
• considering to change my hair. Bangs, side fringe? Get the chop? Leave it long? I don't know. Give me your opinions please :)

long time no see

First off, I'm sorry that I haven't been blogging. Today would mark the end of my half yearly exams and I am so damn happy! I just couldn't blog, not because I was intensely studying, but because I really had nothing to write. And as if I would ever forget about this place. You guys are so sweet, thanks for dropping by even though you would predict that there was nothing new, not a change of background, a bunch of words, a silly phrase, a dumb picture. So to update, here's my life in a few categories.

Motherhood:

I've been a terrible mother. My little minions, in order: English Advanced, Maths, Modern History, Biology, Japanese. Stuff Chemistry. I declare it officially disowned. Until the start of next term that is. I'm not going to lie to you, I haven't been the best mother to my children. Sure, I had a chance to select them (absolute unnatural selection, despite my knowingly lack of skill) and time to take care of them one by one. But did I use that wisely? No, siree. I do know that complaining and crying about how terrible my results will be, won't make them any better. So what now? Promise to commit? Deprive myself of everything? Whatever works. I'm just too carefree for my own good.

Letting go:

My house got robbed. You see, some lucky bastards climbed through my window one fine day(emphasis on broad daylight, the type of weather my neighbours would be outside gardening, having lunch and all). They took my one month old iPod touch, old and useless Nokia 6300, and some gold jewellery. So I had a "I lost my shit" moment, frantically searching through the other rooms in case anything more worthy was stolen. Thankfully, there was not. I waited for Papa Cao to return home, completely reluctant to break the news to him, but my sister and brother-in-law strongly insisted I do so. As always the reasonable man just said to me "Well, what can you do?" My sentimental and materialistic persona kicked in, and I grieved for days. But I had no more energy to dwell on stupid people and stupid things, more importantly, stupid me. I guess someone else out there is blessed with my awesome tunes. And hey, at least I've still got my camera :)

Ambiguity:

I don't really know what I want to do anymore. What's my passion? Everything I used to be interested in seems so bland now. People have THE mark they want to achieve for THE course they want. And I'm just here you know....chillin'. I despise the fact that I'm so laidback and lately I've been encountering several signs that I shouldn't be like this. For instance:

How confronting.

I had a lovely chat with my grandmother the other day. She said, "Do your best, and when you graduate, I'm going to jump in the air, I'm going to be so happy!" Now there's two ways to absorb such genuine words. 1. Here's some motivation, now be inspired and run away with it!

2. Pressure's on, kiddo. I really hope you make everyone damn proud.

Sometimes I feel like I'm just doing it for everyone else. It's not being selfless, it's more like, it's my only purpose. I need to find what I want.

This holiday and thereon I will be consistent and get my gear on. I can't afford to waste time, because everything and everyone is moving forward. I don't want to settle. I'm going to do what I can do, because I can.

1. Eating fruit-lots and lots!

2. Early sleeps, early mornings.

3. Good conversations with people I've just met, people I haven't seen for a while, people I wouldn't expect to have a proper talk with.

4. Painting my nails.

5. Warm showers in Autumn weather

6. The sound of parents' laughs over the phone 374267846348572837 miles away.

7. Singing and dancing with Jennifer, my niece.

8. Having someone beautiful/well-dressed/interesting to look at when I'm bored

9. Collecting red and orange maple leaves

11. A cbox full of love (or rather, high demand)

12. Telling someone they smell nice. And when they walk past you, ohhhhhhh le melt.
