ten things :)

10 things about thyself
1 thing about life
5 people to tag
1. I hate it when people contradict themselves, and continuously tend to do so.
2. I'm a sucker for nice-coloured eyes i.e: blue, grey, light brown and strong jawlines.
3. Up until now, I've always felt the need to have a fringe or a bang to frame my face a la Elliot from Scrubs. But now I really just like the whole fresh look of putting your hair up without having pieces of hair in your face or parted. Yes, the split.
4. For the past year or so, I think I've found more things to despise than like about people in general.
5. I like having a vase of flowers on my desk. Today, I have white chrysanthemum, dark purple and lilac daisies.

6. It really makes me upset when I see old people alone. There's this one couple I pass by every morning and they're always holding hands whilst walking together. Lately, the husband's been walking by himself every morning and it makes me sad....but let's not assume the worst hey?

7. I love Asian Alley. Though we're not really close, I love how we just establish a spot whether it's cold or hot and sit, blocking everyone's way. For that 20 minutes filled with awkward silences, laughter, teasing each other (i.e: calling Nelson fat, David an Arab, Joanne a man), talking amongst ourselves, planning after-parties and whatnot, it all goes by so fast and I know I'll miss this part of the day most.

8. The idea of romantic dates don't appeal to me. I prefer doing things as we go, whatever we feel like. None of that long walks on the beach and candle-lit dinners and crap like that. I'm an advocate of good food though..food, and I'm sold. With lots of fun, spontaneous and cheap thrills :)

9. I wish I was more athletical and active. I envy my niece who's an all-rounder- dancer, fast swimmer and runner, basketball for PSSA, t-ball and rollerbladding at home with her homegirls. Some people I know who's at uni now all seem to have an obsession with the gym. Let's hope I turn out like that...

10. I haven't had a decent phone conversation in a while. It's strange how I used to spend hours and hours talking, three-waying(which was so fun!) and now I find it difficult to engage in those. Time flies and things change...

Life? I reckon there's nothing to the end of life. You just die. I don't really believe in Heaven and Hell , and I don't mind what happens after I die. I guess this just makes me want to live my life better, go and enjoy life and stop worrying about what happens at the end. I go by the saying 'You only live once'- and I believe that's a healthier and more positive way of approaching life.

Christina, Mella, Bui, Elena, Tony P. YOU'VE BEEN TAGGED.

I love my mum

Today I drove her for the very first time. I turn around and see her clutching to a pillow for her life with a frozen look on her face...guys, I think she won't want to get into a car with me ever again. -insert sad face here-

Do you think there's any resemblance between us?

..wait don't answer that, she's more beautiful.

Hope all the mothers out there had a lovely Mother's day. I sure gave my mother one helluva a day to remember.... jks. Off to bed now, for one of our sleepless night talks :)

passion?

A few weeks ago, Ange recommended to me the film Julie and Julia starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. It's a pleasant and light-hearted comedy intertwined by two stories about the love of cooking and food. With its romantic images of Paris and New York, in cosy little homes adorned with books and kitchenware, my mind filled with wondrous things to do after the HSC. I want to go to Paris :) I want to buy lots of cookbooks and learn the recipes and cook really really really good food. I want to learn how to make pastries. I want to try different dishes of different ethnics. I want to have small dinner parties with my friends outside in a fairy light-lit balcony and enjoy the night away. And I want all of this, not because I BELONG in the kitchen, it's because I love food. (suck it, boys.)

I'm starting to sound a lot like those Masterchef contestants.
"I'm a lawyer, but I find myself looking out the window thinking about what else is out there.
" My heart's with food."
" I'm earning 300 grand per client but my passion's with cooking. "
"I'm very passionate about food, I really want this."

And here is a parting gift,
A video from one of the last days of Year 10, exploring the most important ingredient of cooking.

speaking of meaningless things..

How cool would it be to get this for a tattoo?

and how ironic is it that everything I used to be against 2 years ago, I'm more attracted to now?

snakebites, funky tattoos, West Coast, weird shoes, lipstick, editorials with models holding cigarettes...

just kidding. (A)

small talk

this makes me miss Snoopy.

As uneventful as my life can be, life's okay guys. Nothing good nor bad, just one of those times when nothing happens and you're just cruising along. My HSC timetable is totally sweet with two or three days in between each other. And I'm sorry to those who have pretty crappy timetables, but at least we know now so we've got to start preparing and working twice, thrice and quadruplice(LOL) as hard! We'll get through this. 2010 graduates here we go!

Another thing to the bucket list. I would really love to own a cafe one day- just a small one, in a small town somewhere. Bui's already said he'll work there just to get free coffee every morning :) Ah, big dreams like when we used to want to move out and live with all our friends. Come the end of highschool, we all think about getting a job, getting a car, paying uni fees, paying bills. Growing up..is quite scary.
